Using Linux Everyday for a Few Months
November 26, 2023
In September I migrated my 2 laptops, a Dell XPS 13 and an Asus Zenbook Duo 14 from Windows 11 to Ubuntu 23.04. I wrote a blog post about why I made the move.
And now 2 months on I am very happy and have no regrets. In addition to the 2 laptops I have migrated my desktop computer as well. 2 of these machines can dual boot to Windows, but I haven't booted into Windows almost at all. While I can't say that everything worked perfectly; the fingerprint scanner on my Dell isn't supported, but that isn't a deal breaker. But on the whole I am pretty amazed at how smoothly it has gone.
Personally I love the desktop experience that Ubuntu and Gnome provide. All my machines are running 23.10 now and that was a significant experience upgrade.
I can't say if it would go the same for anyone else, and I certainly recommend testing any given computer with a Live Linux USB before committing yourself. But I am having a blast.
